Teaching
Rich is Associate Dean of Research, Scholarship and Enterprise and Professor of Music at the Academy of Contemporary Music (UK). He is also Professor of Music Performance at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (UK) and is an Honorary Associate (Music) at the University of Kent. He previously held the positions: Senior Lecturer in Music Performance and Director of Performance at the University of Kent (2014–2024), Associate Lecturer of Guitar at Brunel University London (2013–2018) and Head of Guitar at the International Centre of Music (Qatar) (2006–2007). With over twenty years' teaching experience, Rich offers instruction across a variety of styles including rock, jazz, blues, fusion, pop, funk and classical; preparation for electric, classical and theory Graded Examinations is available.

Rich has a PhD from Brunel University London, specialising in composition and improvisation. Prior to this he was awarded a Masters Degree in Contemporary Music from Brunel University, a First Class Bachelors Degree in Popular Music Performance from the London College of Music (Guitar Institute), and a First Class Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the University of Southampton. He possesses a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Other music qualifications include Grade 8 Electric Guitar, Grade 8 Electric Bass (Trinity College of Music/Rockschool) and Grade 8 Music Theory (ABRSM).
